What does “allay” mean?

1. to diminish or put at rest (fear, suspicion, or worry).

2. to relieve or alleviate (pain or hunger).

3. to mitigate (to make less severe, serious, or painful).

4. to subdue or reduce in intensity or severity.

5. to make quiet.

At Allay Resources, we want to allay the fears of women and families who are facing difficult life choices and challenges. We want to have an honest conversation about what life looks like when you face these conditions and circumstances. We want to calm the chaos and heal our communities by offering the education and support that actually helps those living these experiences. We want to make life an empowering choice for all women and families.

What does it mean that your project is “life-affirming”?

Allay Resources uses the term “life-affirming” to indicate that we believe in non-violent resources and solutions that respect all human beings involved. Allay Resources does not promote, advocate for, or fund projects that offer elective termination of life (e.g. elective abortion, physician-assisted suicide, euthanasia). We provide accurate information about such procedures, safety risks, laws, etc. when appropriate. If you have questions, please contact our administrative team.

What services do you provide?

As of January 2020, Allay Resources provides a resources database of over 50 situation-specific resource lists. We also provide personalized assistance with identifying needs for your situation. We will often refer you to local and national organizations that can work with you (in person). These organizations can provide expert advice on your situation and walk you through your next steps. When possible, we will connect you directly to individuals that we know working within these organizations. We currently do not provide financial assistance, but we will promote fundraisers that have been verified for authenticity.

For individuals interested in starting their own life-affirming project, we can guide you through compiling a community resources list, recommend appropriate support and outreach projects, and/or connect you to experts in the subject or project that you wish to engage in.

I need help. What do I do if I can’t find what I’m looking for?

If you cannot find a topic or resource that matches your situation, contact our Allay Resources team so that we can personally assist you. If you can provide us with the basic details of your situation (e.g. your name, location, needs), we can work with you to find organizations, online communities, educational materials, blogposts, videos, etc. that might be helpful.

I work for an advocacy group or supportive organization. How can we partner?

Contact our Allay Resources team to learn about what materials, training, or support we may be able to offer your group or organization. We would love to hear about your mission, services, and events. We are also happy to connect you with experts in your field (or subject of interest) where we have those relationships.

Do you have a working relationship with all the recommended organizations?

When possible, we will directly connect you to contacts we personally know within the organization. However, we do not have a working relationship with all the organizations that we recommend. We discern who and what to add based on how well their information and services meet the posted resource topic. The inclusion of an organization is not an endorsement of all their positions and projects.
